THE SANDALMAN
was started in 1976 by two
brothers, Pat and Scott Strader, as part time work while attending college. They were buying slightly irregular California made flip flops and fixing some of them to make sellable. As their business grew and more inventory was needed the two brothers began making simple sandals to satisfy the increase in business. (Remember in the begining, Pat and Scott were repairing irregulars which taught them sandal structure.) As the end of the ’70’s arrived Southeast Asia became a popular manufacturing location for American manufacturers. Because of this, finding sandals made in America became more and more difficult which forced a business changing decision! Buy imports or make what was needed here in the USA?
